His hardships and personal struggles in his early life, made George strive for financial success and security.

Edward VII's coronation robe was similar to that of Her Majesty, being of purple silk velvet, with a long train heavily embroidered in gold, fully lined with the best ermine.
The robe was made for George IV in 1821, though not worn by him, and was used in 1911, 1937 and 1953.

He is perhaps best known for his work with Marilyn Monroe, however, with whom he was collaborating on a book at the time of her death.
He photographed many stars of the 50s and 60s, including Elizabeth Taylor on the set of Cleopatra.
